Train to Survive
We train everyone – Military, Law Enforcement, Contractors, Enthusiasts, Beginners
Carbine Fundamentals was a great class. They thoroughly explained all the basics and clearly walked us through proper carry techniques, shooting positions, zeroing, and how to break down the carbine for cleaning. The instructors and RSOs we're all helpful and knowledgeable.
I learned so much at the Carbine Fundamentals Clinic this weekend! Can't wait to sign up for more classes with Joel and Michael. These guys not only have a tremendous amount of knowledge about firearms and how to properly use them; they're also amazingly patient, and definitely know how to teach! They gave me new techniques to practice next time I'm at the range and also sent me away with dry-fire drills to practice at home. I loved how they were willing and able to adapt the course to my older rifle: all other students in the class had modern rifles with proper slings, but my setup was a bit dated. They offered me 1:1 instruction with alternative approaches whenever needed. The drive from Phoenix to just north of Tucson is worth it! Don't pass these guys up.
Blakes Awesome Adventures
My whole family has taken several classes through WarLizard. They are the best. Very patient, helpful and educated. I learned so much after my very first class. Would recommend them to anyone!
The instructors and their volunteer range assistants provide high quality fundamental courses. I have completed the Carbine Fundamentals and Pistol fundamentals courses. The one on one coaching has really boosted my abilities and confidence in handling my weapons. Joel, Mike and Cameron have built a great team. I look forward to taking more classes with them in the future.
The Warlizard Training Team in Tucson, AZ are amazing. I was referred to them by a friend and he was not wrong, this is the best gun safety and tactical training I’ve attended. I’m a former Marine who had left my skills sitting in my gun safe and it was time to get back into shape. As Joel and Michael Gaines always say, these skills are perishable. The Father and Son team have an amazing ability to identify the skills of each individual and help each person reach the desired next level. The structure and progression of the courses are perfect for everyone. The fundamental courses are always a mixture of skill levels. It is not uncommon to see first time gun users along side more experienced gun users. If you are new to guns you will receive personalized training to ensure you know how to operate your gun safely. If you are intermediate to advanced skill level, you will progress to the advanced courses quickly. I just finished taking the Carbine Fundamental course again, prepping for the Fighting Carbine 1 course at the end of the month. What I appreciate the most is how they naturally introduce critical thinking skills into the gun safety training. It is one thing to know how to operate and fire a gun safely, it is another thing to understand when and how to use the gun for defensive purposes. This approach is what keeps me coming back and the reason I continue to bring family and friends back to the range. Thank you Warlizard Team!
At this point I have taken 2 different classes from Warlizard. They do an excellent job. Father and Son, Joel and Michael, are a fun duo. All of their RSOs are fun and unique. No matter your skill level or age, you'll feel welcome here as everyone is very friendly and helpful and the instructors/RSOs have a wide variety between skill/age as well. Every time they teach a course, it will be slightly different. They like to play it as the class goes, so if one day a class is moving faster than another then you'll get to try a different technique or drill that wasn't planned. I appreciate this dynamic philosophy, it helps the class to keep up the pace, and breaks away from any kind of cookie cutter by the lesson plan feel. The courses are not expensive, they keep it very affordable so that everyone can feel welcome and get a high level of training. I wake up at 5am to drive an hour and a half just to get there, and by the end of the day I'm always happy I made the trip. The whole WLT crew really does care about each and every student's experience and wants to make sure you get something out of each class. All the RSOs are un-paid volunteers that come a long way just to help out, everyone here is in it for the love of teaching and growing the firearms community on every level.
I count be happier with my decision to train with the amazing people at WLT. Joel and his team have treated me and began my training like I am part of the their own family. The welcoming atmosphere of the staff and other peers are unrivaled. This is not training for show or internet videos, this is real world skills. If you are from Phoenix, make the drive, you will not be disappointed.
Great training experience. Well organized. They have an actual written curriculum that t hey follow so everyone learns the same stuff. Uses a building block approach that ensure students learn well and safely. I learned to launch bullets over 50 years ago, but it wasn't until I attended the Pistol Fundamentals course that I realized I had never really learned to shoot. Thank you Joel and Michael. I will be back real soon to learn more.
What I can say? I been taking classes with these guys close to a year now. This is the best most complete tactical school I have ever been. Most complete meaning the diverse topics school that varies from knife, survival, medical, shotgun, rifle, pistol, mixed topics, maintain your firearm and safety. I love the approach of seeing this as a martial art and a life style and how is gets integrated in our every day normal lifes without being super disruptive. The environment is super friendly, they have range safety officers checking for the safety of everyone there and once you keep going you can see that they treat you like family. If you are serious about learning realistic defensive techniques I highly recommend to take all their levels and keep going. Note that your will have to put an effort to practice by yourself what you just learned, show that you can perform in a safe effective way and then pass to the next level. This is the real deal.
I can pretty much guarantee that you won't find this quality of instruction for this low of a price anywhere else. My first class was a carbine fundamentals, and even having shot before, I was surprised at the amount of things I still learned. All the instructors and staff make for a great atmosphere, giving you the personal instruction you need to improve your skills, while making the class fun and enjoyable. I will continue to come back to Warlizard for any training they offer.
